Hey, gang! Happy New Year! Here’s to 2017 being everyone’s best year yet. Among my New Years resolutions this year was “play more board games.” Sounds simple and perhaps a bit childish; but the older I get, the more I realize that life’s too short to neglect the things you love. Plus, the best part about playing board games is that you also get to spend time with the people you love. What more could you ask for?
Anywho, I was at a couple of friends’ New Years Eve party this weekend, and I had the pleasure of meeting (Re-meeting? We went to high school together many, many years ago) a very cool couple who are obsessed with board games. We had a great chat about our current favorite games, the game design process, and our love of Harry Potter. Turns out they’re super active in the game community under the banner “Board Villain.” Check out their blog, their Instagram page, Facebook page, and Twitter feed – they’re playing the coolest games, and I spent a solid afternoon reading through their old reviews (and adding far too many games to my wish list!)
I’ve always thought that one of the coolest things about the board gaming community is you never know who’s a part of it – even old high school classmates or people you meet at a New Years Eve party. Gaming truly is the glue that holds us together – a reminder not to take life too seriously, even when it gets serious.
Keep it plucky!
