This week’s Kickstarter Game of the Week is Epoch: The Awakening by Orange Nebula!
Epoch: The Awakening hits a sweet spot for me in terms of game mechanics, in that it’s all about action selection, resource management, and area control. Check out the gameplay blurb below, and be sure to watch the videos on the Kickstarter page for yourself – I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
But what really drew me to Epoch: The Awakening is were the superior visuals and product design. It’s got custom-cut cards, a custom hex board, dashboards, tiles, custom engraved dice, AND some great-looking stretch goal minis! While I appreciate and love playing Euro-ey resource management games, far too often the components for them are just plain boring. However, I can assure you that is NOT the case with Epoch: The Awakening! This game looks like it had a strong visual direction, very early in its development. In short, it combines the best of both worlds: tight, strategic gameplay with a great theme and visuals.
Who doesn’t love exploring, treasure-hunting, and recruiting a party of heroic fantasy characters? And, c’mon. C’mon. Just LOOK at that box art! ((Droooool)) Excuse me for just a moment while I collect myself.
As of posting this, Epoch: The Awakening is fully funded, charging through stretch goals, with just 10 days to go. Check it out here, and if make sure you back it while you still have the chance!
Until next time, gang. Keep it plucky,
