Hey, gang!

Today’s Kickstarter Highlight is Longboat by Wight Hart Games!

Longboat is Wight Hart’s flagship game, and it’s exciting to see so much passion from a new designer and indie publisher! Longboat is a lightweight card drafting game – while it can it in a coat pocket, it packs a lot of punch in terms of strategy and downright awesomeness.

Players take turns drafting cards from a shared draft pool, and add the cards to their own longboat. The various card types will effect your longboat in different ways – for example, vikings power your boat and add to your end-of-game scoring, loot which provides a ton of glory during scoring, berserkers can steal loot from other players’ boats, drummers can re-arrange the draft pool (more on that later!), and sheep slow other players’ boats down, decreasing their final score.

The catch in Longboat is in the drafting mechanics. Players must draft from the bottom of 3 rows of cards. Whenever a card is drafted, all the cards from rows above that row slide down to fill in the gap. This means players have to be strategic about how they draft – always aware of the future options that they could be giving away to other players.

There’s a full rundown of the gameplay on the Kickstarter page – Longboat promises to be a lot of fun, quick to learn and play, and super portable. Plus, the artwork is downright stellar! Be sure to swing by the page and check it out.

Until next time, gang. Keep it plucky!
