Today’s Kickstarter Highlight is Crystallo by Liberty Kifer of Light Heart Games!
Crystallo is an exciting solitaire game that’s gotten rave reviews in the gaming community for its gorgeous visuals, innovative and puzzle-like gameplay, and replayability. There aren’t many solitaire games out there, so if you’re a solo gamer, you have to check out Crystallo!
At its core, Crystallo is a combination tile-placement and set-collection game. You’ve got to lay down cards to create squares of crystal sets (all of the same color and shape, all of the same shape but different color, all a different shape but the same color, or all of a different shape and different color). When you create a set, you get to collect an orb that’s contained in the tile. Collect three orbs of the same color, and you free one of the mythical creatures. Free them all? Well, then you’re pretty awesome, and you win the game – only then can you attempt to trap the black dragon at the center of the cavern.
Crystallo is deliciously simple in its gameplay, but its puzzly nature makes it difficult to master. It’s one of those games that you can learn in a few minutes, play in an hour, and only hope to master in weeks. And just when you think you’ve got the puzzle down pat, Crystallo throws in a treasure-unlocking mechanic wherein you can attempt to steal various treasures from the dragon by forming a crystal set on that treasure card. This makes the game even trickier by giving it a press-your-luck element – don’t get greedy, because you could wind up blocking yourself from achieving your primary goal!

Until next time, gang. Keep it plucky!
